About the Event

In order for service providers in helping fields that interact with survivors of trauma to be more effective we need to take decolonizing approaches that incorporate various tools for healing. This training specifically focuses on music as a tool that survivors of violence and other forms of trauma can turn to. It also includes examples around how music can be incorporated into violence prevention. The most active form of learning is doing. Get ready to try out various musical techniques through this guided workshop! The workshop ends with brainstorming prompts to allow participants the opportunity to vision a realistic application of music in their own work.

Audience: Professionals in victim services and violence prevention. Professionals who work in helping fields that often see survivors of trauma (substance use, homelessness, eating disorders, etc). Professionals who work with kids, in social work, clinical psychology, community based programs, and other related fields may also find the content relevant.
